Firstly, the trip wasnt planned for me..I couldnt imagine travelling some 30 hours and multiple stops. It had already been a crazy schedule for us to head to US for Easter as well so we didnt plan this. Then as they say sometimes destiny has its own way and here we are heading to these gorgeous islands. The trip to Jeju has been fabulous. I've experienced the reach culture and thought I should pin down my trio for you all to experience. First of all, I've thought to divide the experience in the different areas that I really enjoyed and thought to share it that way.
PEOPLE : The people are really cultured and very friendly. I found them very Polite and always smiling. You know no matter how beautiful a particular city is, it's always about how the people are. The culture is very welcoming and warm so you feel at home almost immediately. We reached the hotel exhausted after our long 30 odd hours flight and all we wanted to do was relax. Which we got in return :) There were occasions when we saw people would take our pictures, or we enter a restaurant and everyone would turn to look at us. I guess the reason being we were the only foreigners there and culturally they are mostly Koreans we saw everywhere we went. Still, after getting over the fact that people kept staring, we had a lot of fun.

STAY: We stayed at the gorgeous 'Shilla hotel' Wow! Its really a 7 star hotel, with every facility with beautiful views of the beach from the hotel. I couldn't get enough of the place. The ambience and the hotel is huge with lovely facilities! I just couldn't resist to pen down my experience here. The views of palm trees with lovely sandy beaches and greenery everywhere makes you want to stay here for a long time..
FASHION: The fashion style of the locals is casual but chic. Nike and Reebok shoes are the most common and probably because of all the trekking and hiking people do all the time. They seem to love bright colours too. I've seen a lot of colorful sneakers - from yellow, to pink to neon. Oh and I've seen those cute bunny iPhone covers. How cute are those! My personal style was bright neon colors with my fav black as always :p I got a huge thing for floral prints too now..Maybe thanks to H&M latest collection...we will have to see how much I start wearing those :p
I was carrying my heels but I kinda felt overdressed only because everyone looked so very casual :) I barely saw someone wear a dress, the weather was sunny but with a lil chilly breeze that I agree, somehow, I managed to wear dresses for our evening events only. For our adventures across the island I loved my skinny black pants with casual beachy kinda tops keeping it relaxig and yet cool. I'm not a big makeup person so I just love gloss and some light eye-liner :)
FOOD: I've tried Korean food and it's spicy and very much to my liking. Japanese sadly isn't my preference so I haven't had Sushi..that just isn't me sadly. I need a lot of flavor and spices in my food. I guess it's my origin and my roots and we did manage to find one Indian restaurant and hung out there for our meals. But, I love noodles and spicy dishes at the hotel too.
SITESEEING: So here's the thing about me, I know some you know that I have these phobias, well they aren't major but they do relate to height and water phobias. They have hindered me a bit but I've tried to overcome them trekking a Volcano (yes you heard that right) I've trekked a lot in country side at my hometown too and I just believe I dont wanna stop the adventures and pursue all my dreams.
We saw 3 waterfalls, the cave (through which the lava flowed) tons of great nature and beautiful beaches...the Island is surrounded by beaches so you can imagine, we just kept travelling everywhere we went we saw water... The best part was the 200m mountain climb to have a view of the entire island was just too tempting...and so tough to resist! How could I say noo! So with my hubby with our friend headed to trek the mountain. I almost reached the top part of it but I guess the phobia got the best of me. I managed to see the tip of the Island though, beautiful views and I guess these are some experiences I will never forget.

Lovely post Hansa !! Dont worry hun, climbing as high as you did up the mountain was a great achievement :) Lolll, I have done some crazy treks myself...trekked up a mountain BAREFOOT for 2 hrs up and 2 hrs down, and trekked up a mountain in the middle of the night through rainforest, with no light except the light from our mobile phones, to catch the sunrise at the top :o How crazy is that ? But I survived !
